"Sonic Imprint" (noun)
A sonic character that emotes true creative intentions and stories.
WHO WE ARE:
panelphonic is a lifestyle music brand based in Los Angeles. We are a curated collective of independent writers, musicians and producers. We make "Sonic Imprints" [noun]: sonic character that emotes true creative intentions and stories. Music trends come and go, but the emotional connector of songs to people remains. We choose to focus on the obvious: making people dance, smile and cry.
WHAT WE DO:
We adopt a creative agency approach with music through licensing and production to fuel and inspire multimedia projects and brand campaigns. We do not consider ourselves a music library, but collaborators and creatives who desire to amplify and communicate stories when it matters the most.

Awards & Nominations:
Artists and Brands:
Cold War Kids, David Zimmer, Enfield, Everleigh, Great Northern, Herb Alpert, Joe Sample, Kazumasa Oda, Lani Hall, Let's Go Sailing, Maps and Legends, Marcus Miller, Natalie Cole, Plastic Snow, Randy Crawford, Resolved Music, Rod Stewart, Sergio Mendes, Weezer, Wu Bai
We’ve always supported KCRW and the important role they play in music today, but when they announced their Music Mine iPad app, we didn’t really take them seriously. We knew that it would have great content, but we never expected it to be of any match to music apps that are developed by other more technology-centric companies.
Today, Music Mine has proven us completely wrong, and all it took was 2 minutes of our time. It is by far the best music discovery app out there. Powered by Echo Nest, this app’s overall user-experience is seamless. Most importantly, it is simple and super fun to use. Top that with their independently curated content, you have an amazing and powerful combo for music discovery.

Thank you all for your kind support. ‘Words’ is now available on iTunes worldwide for you Apple junkies.
My piano teacher passed away a little shy of one month ago. I can recount numerous lessons when we sat and listened to records and cassette tapes piped through his giant tube speakers. Beyond just tinkling on the black and white keys, he taught me to love music. His love for music has left a deep imprint on me that translates to everything I create.
‘Words’ originated from a Mendelssohn piano series, “Songs Without Words”. The simple melodies have always echoed within me. In a world where there’s so much noise, these melodies resonate louder than ever. I produced this track partly as a gut reaction towards my teacher’s death, but partly due to Mendelssohn’s open-ended intentions for his series. ‘Words’ was produced to allow the listener’s own imagination to run free, and to take a deep, long breath in the midst of so much chaos and disorder.

Darius Fong (Founder | Producer)
Panelphonic began in 2008 by Darius Fong, whose production credits span from Herb Alpert to The Cold War Kids. Darius is passionate about telling stories through music. While he is deeply aware that the creative industry is changing rapidly through technology. he is more excited than ever to make a difference by approaching the world through his big picture lens.
Born in Hong Kong, Darius is a classically trained pianist, and a self-proclaimed jazz aficionado with a degree in telecommunications from Indiana University. Darius began his production career assisting legendary producer-engineer Bill Schnee (Direct-to-Disc / Sheffield Labs). He has worked on numerous Grammy winning and Billboard charting albums, including mixing Sergio Mendes 2010 release Bom Tempo. Darius believes in sonic character that emotes true creative intentions.
